As the first step in the steel production route from raw materials to the finished product engineers, supplies and implements individual solutions for ore processing, from simple ore concentration plants up to large-scale open pit or underground iron-ore mines. In dependence of the specific iron ore properties and customer requirements proven solutions ensure a high concentration efficiency and peak throughput rates. This is the precondition for low-cost production, high-value-added products and maximized profits.

Our strengths include:
* Ore mineralogy and petrology
* Modeling and prediction of process performance
* Beneficiation of iron ores
* Sustainable raw material preparation
* Modeling and control of high temperature processes
* Improved process control including instrumentation, sampling and analysis techniques
* Quality control and environmental impact reduction
* Pilot scale mineral processing facilities

Unprecedented expansion and change has led today's iron ore industry to demand more from its existing resources, processes and equipment, and to develop new resources. BIOP is working closely with industry to meet these demands. Our unique range of expertise extends from detailed mineralogical, beneficiation and agglomeration evaluations, to predicting the process performance of sinter, pellets and lump in the blast furnace. We combine the best people with the latest technology to deliver research and development outcomes that enhance all stages of iron ore processing - from mineralogical analysis of raw materials to feed preparation for iron making. BIOP continues to play a key role in development for the international iron ore trade. Current efforts are aimed at improving the sampling of iron ores and developing new standards for the analysis and physical testing of blast furnace and direct reduction feed stocks.

Process Description

The iron ore produced from H. Siddapuram Iron Ore Mine is rich in iron content with low impurities. The iron ore is recovered in the form of lumps (40%) and fines (60%). The iron ore produced from the mine is transported to the crushing and dry screening at the crusher plant located at the foot of the hill out side the mining lease area for the final product recovery. The waste generated from the working pit is directly disposed to the dump areas located within the mining lease area. The crushed ore is passed through vibrato ring screens to yield three products namely +30 mm, -30 mm to +10 mm and -10 mm sizes.

BIOP is operating physical beneficiation plant comprising of one 150 tph capacity and one screen of 100 tph exclusively for dry of ore. The run-of-mine is subjected to gravity size separation at we pit for removal of fines and the oversize is transported to beneficiary plant for crushing. The crushed ore is passed through vibratory yield three products namely +35 mm; -35 to +10 mm and -10 mm +35 mm product is recycled to secondary crusher for -30 mm to +10 & - 10 mm. Thus only two final products are produced. The iron ore of greater than +10 mm (with greater than 64-67 content) as per consumers requirement is supplied to MMTC and -1 fines (> 64% Fe) to Cement plants of Andhra Pradesh.

Processing Plant

Processsing of the iron ore includes crushing and screening. 40% of the iron ore produced is in the form of lumps which is subjected to crushing. BIOP has installed a crusher of 150 tph capacity which is adequate to the production of 0.45 mtpa. The lumps production from the mine is estimated to be about 0.26 mtpa. Hence the capacity of the existing crushing plant will be adequate to handle the total production of 0.26 mpta of lumps (40% of total production of 0.65 mtpa). One screening plant of 100 tph capacity available is adequate to handle the total production of the mine.    Top
